Central Station has been Glasgow’s beating heart since 1879.

To this day, hordes of Celtic fans make their way to home games via that vibrant hub - and it has been the backdrop to many a memorable Celtic cameo over the years.

In 1951, for example, when Celtic alighted at Glasgow Central en route home via Liverpool from that year’s historic U.S. Tour, fan idol of the time, Charlie Tully, was mobbed by adoring Hoops fans and required police assistance to battle his way to the exit; and perhaps most memorably of all, Billy McNeill and John Clark displayed the Scottish Cup to an ecstatic Celtic throng from a window of the Central Hotel (which is the station buttress at the corner of Gordon Street and Hope Street) in the joyous aftermath of the victorious 1965 final that ended an agonising eight years of silverware drought.

What ensued is now enshrined as the most glorious era to date in Celtic history.

This T-shirt celebrates our links to Central Station with a fanciful impression of how it may (or may not) have looked in the heady days following our sensational European Cup victory of 1967. The elaborate baroque clocktower news-stand had long since been removed by the 1960s; but it was such a striking image of the station in its heyday, I could not resist taking some designers licence to include it in this design.

Join in our 1967 ‘Easter Egg Hunt’ by trying to spot the teasers in the image, not least the significance of the time shown on the clock ... “Ten Therty”.
