Celtic were at Love Street, St Mirren's old ground, in the classic green away strip. They scored. They scored again. They were four up by half-time. They added a fifth in the second half. 5-0. Brilliant, joyful, useless on its own.
Then word came through from Dens Park. Albert Kidd, a Dundee substitute, had scored. And then he'd scored again. Hearts had lost. Celtic had won the league on goal difference. The dressing room at Love Street went into the kind of frenzy that lives in supporter folklore.
